Meet The Dentists

Dr. Latoi Thomas and Dr. Candace Badie are the co-founders of The Smile Center, a modern dental practice dedicated to compassionate, patient-centered care. Dr. Thomas is a graduate of Meharry Medical College. Dr. Badie is a graduate of University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Together they are committed to helping patients achieve a healthy confident smile and creating a welcoming environment for patients of all ages.

Dr. Dilan Rutland is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through compassionate and personalized dental care. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry after completing her Bachelor of Arts in Cellular & Molecular Biology at Barnard College of Columbia University.

Throughout her dental education and professional training, Dr. Rutland has been actively involved in community outreach, oral health education, and volunteer dentistry initiatives serving underserved populations. Her experience includes providing dental care and education through nonprofit organizations, community health events, mission trips, and outreach programs focused on improving access to oral healthcare.

Dr. Rutland is committed to creating a comfortable, welcoming environment where patients feel heard, respected, and confident in their care. She enjoys building lasting relationships with patients and helping individuals and families maintain healthy smiles for years to come.

In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Rutland has participated in dental research, leadership organizations, and professional development programs that reflect her dedication to continued learning and excellence in dentistry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Rutland enjoys community service, mentoring students interested in healthcare careers, and spending time with family and friends.
